Kuta Lombok on foot
Kuta, on the south coast of Lombok, has grown into the main town of the Mandalika area. The centre is compact, so if you stay in the middle of town you can do most of your day on foot. This is what that looks like from Villa Lulets, on Jl. Raya Kuta.

Is Kuta Lombok walkable?
Yes, if you stay in the centre. Most cafés, warungs, restaurants, minimarkets, gyms and yoga studios sit along a few streets around Jl. Raya Kuta and the road down to the beach. From a central base you can walk to all of them in a few minutes.
If you stay on the hills outside town, the picture changes: the roads are steep and there are long stretches without pavement, so you will need a scooter or a driver for almost everything.
What you can reach from Villa Lulets
These are walking times from the villa. They are approximate and assume an easy pace.
- Coworking space: 1 minute
- Mana Yoga: 1 minute
- Cafés, warungs and restaurants: on the doorstep
- Minimarkets, pharmacies and ATMs: a few minutes
- Gyms: a few minutes
- Kuta beach: about 10 minutes
When a scooter or driver is worth it
The town is walkable, but the famous beaches of the south coast are spread along it. Tanjung Aan, Bukit Merese and the surf at Gerupuk are to the east; Mawun, Mawi and Selong Belanak are to the west. To visit them, rent a scooter for a few days or book a driver for a day trip. Both are easy to arrange in town.
A good rhythm for many guests is to walk everywhere during the week and keep a scooter for one or two beach days.
Tips for getting around on foot
A few small things make walking in Kuta more pleasant.
- Walk early in the morning or late in the afternoon, when it is cooler.
- Carry water and sun protection. The midday sun is strong all year.
- Some streets have no pavement, so walk facing the traffic and use a light at night.
- Keep some cash for small warungs and markets.
